In the historic structure at the base of Montalvo’s Italianate Garden—a site known as the Love Temple—sits an ornate marble fountain surrounded by four satyr-like gargoyles. Munro chose this as the location to create a ceremonial, ever-flowing fountain (of wine) in celebration of Bacchus and his retinue whom the Narnian lion Aslan, in the book Prince Caspian, summons to awaken the trees and bring the forest back to life. For us, the audience, this illuminated sphere conjures images of joy and reverie.
