Over the course of Munro’s career, he has returned again and again to certain materials and concepts, refining them and reimagining them to fit new locations. Such is the case with Silver Sea, which draws inspiration from installations Munro has presented for over a decade at various venues in the UK, Australia, and the US. This particular breath-taking iteration is an homage to two specific images that have inspired and fascinated Munro for years: a moment in Voyage of the Dawn Treader when King Caspian and his crew sail from a salt-water sea to a freshwater sea filled with lilies; and painter Georgia O'Keeffe’s lyrical Sky Above Clouds series.
